Overview:

“Transforming the world, achieving sustainable development agenda 2030”

At the camp, delegates will have the opportunity to understand and appreciate the different disciplines of social sciences. Understanding these disciplines will truly support the declared policy of the state under Republic Act No. 10533 otherwise known as the “Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013” to produce “graduates of basic education who are empowered individuals who have learned, x x x x the foundations for learning throughout life, the competence to engage in work and be productive, the ability to coexist in fruitful harmony with local and global communities, the capability to engage in autonomous, creative, and critical thinking, and the capacity and willingness to transform others and one’s self.”

Further, ISSC will strengthen the goal of ASEAN Community Integration of building ONE ASEAN Identity. It will create a sense of belongingness, consolidate unity in diversity and enhance deeper mutual understanding among the delegates about their culture, history, religion, and civilization. It will also promote cultural exchange and understanding among the delegates about the unique history of different people and the cultural similarities and differences. The prominent role in youth development of the World Program of Action for Youth of the United Nations will be supported as well as the camp offers opportunities to young people to effectively participate in society through discussions on national and global issues and understanding cultural diversity.

Innovate – ideas into actions to face and address global issues and concerns

Change – one’s self and society to impact social institutions and the world

OBJECTIVES:

The camp aims to:

1. Encourage delegates’ interest in learning the fields of social sciences.
2. Develop delegates’ awareness of and concern for social issues in personal, social, environmental and technological contexts.
3. Provide venues for youth leadership development.
4. Create a network and community of young global leaders who are catalyst for change.

QUALIFICATION OF DELEGATES:

a. If student/foreign delegate/teacher/adviser/NGO workers/volunteers
i. If student: must be enrolled in a school/college/university duly recognized by the       Department of Education or Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines or in his country of origin;
ii. If foreign delegate: University students, graduate students, NGO workers or foreign delegates (not more than forty (40) years old) who are interested in or whose works are related to social sciences;
iii. If teacher: must be a teacher teaching any of the subjects related to Social Sciences;
iv. If teacher/adviser of school organizations who is not teaching Social Sciences related subjects: may also attend provided he/she must have interest in the different disciplines of Social Sciences; and
v. If graduate student, NGO worker/volunteer: any person who is interested in or whose works and volunteer activities are related to the different disciplines of Social Sciences

b. Must be a law abiding student/citizen;
c. Must be physically and mentally fit;
d. Must have an interest in the different disciplines of Social Sciences;
e. Must have a positive attitude towards learning new things and meeting new people;
f. Must be flexible and able to adjust outside the comforts of their homes;
g. Must be involved in any school or community activities and organizations; and
h. Must have basic knowledge of the following:
i. History and development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
ii. Background, trends and issues about the United Nations Organization (UNO)
iii. Sustainable Development Agenda 2030

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

On or before September 30:

1. Accomplished participation form (to be submitted on-line)
2. Payment of participation fee (see mode of payment)
3. 1 Passport-sized photo taken within the last 6 months (to be attached in on-line application)
4. Acceptance of Code of Conduct and Program Session Protocol (to be accepted/agreed on-line)
Upon arrival or registration on October 26:
1. Parents’ Consent & Waiver (for students only)
2. Medical Certificate preferably from a Government Doctor (for students only)

PARTICIPATION FEE:

1. Local Delegates

o EARLY BIRD (on or before September 30 only) – Php 3,000.00
o LATE REGISTRATION (after September 30) – Php 3,500.00

2. Foreign Delegates

o EARLY BIRD (on or before September 30 only) – 250 USD
o LATE REGISTRATION (after September 30) – 300 USD

COVERAGE OF THE PARTICIPATION FEE:

1. Payment of participation fee is good for five (5) days & four (4) nights
2. It is inclusive of the following:
o Accommodation(classrooms except for foreign delegates)
o Training materials
o Camp kit (lanyard & I.D., notebook, ballpen, bag, 1 camp t-shirt, 1 SG t-shirt)
o Meals (except lunch on day 1)
o Plated dinner during the International Night and Philippine Night at the hotel
o Ground transportation (institutional visits, Philippine night, international night & outreach activities)
o Certificate(s)
o Souvenir item & souvenir program
o Insurance coverage (for local student participants ONLY).
